Salt

"Salty" - the taste - I think taken from the world "salt"! Unlike sweet for taste of sugar, or hot for taste of chilli,  or sour taste of tamarind (perhaps can be compared to peppery).

Salt is "given" to almost all cooking to provide the taste - we wouldn't say
"Add a chicken into salt" but "add salt into the chicken" !

Unlike other ingridients,  salt is the must have - you could choose not to use chilli , sugar or pepper - but most often , we should use the salt - or else the cooking is not the cooking !

But although it's a most often used, we don't name a cooking after "salt". A soup is named after chicken, minestrone, corn or anything else - but not a "salt soup, although the salt is off course added to the soup ! After give itself to the soup taste, it'll not seen but disolved !

The salt is specificly used for it's saltiness - not for the sweetness , hot , or other taste - if the salt is not salty, it have no longer it's usefullness !
